SUMMARY:Standard Quantum Field Theory is incompatible with the Higgs b
oson\, Physics Department Colloquium\, James Wells\, University of Mic
 higan
DESCRIPTION:I argue that the existence of the Higgs boson\, discovered
at CERN in 2012\, implies the ultimate death of Standard (Wilsonian)
Quantum Field Theory as the core theoretical framework for all of fund
amental physics. The hints were already there before\, witnessed in pa
rt\, for example\, by the string theory effort\, but the Higgs boson s
 eals it.
