SUMMARY:Quantum Networking Using Waveguide Quantum Electrodynamics\, W
isconsin Quantum Institute Colloquium\, Aziza Almanakly\, New York Uni
 versity
DESCRIPTION:<p>Entanglement distribution across a network of non-local
processing modules can enable robust and extensible quantum computati
on. Here\, we engineer two complementary styles of quantum interconnec
ts between superconducting modules underpinned by the physics of waveg
 uide Quantum Electrodynamics (wQED).
\n
\nIn the first approach\, we r
ealize a multi-qubit module that exploits quantum interference to emit
microwave photons into a waveguide with a specified propagation direc
tion [1]. Next\, we construct the quantum interconnect by coupling two
modules to a common waveguide and demonstrate directional (chiral) ph
oton emission and absorption [2]. Using this chiral quantum interconne
ct\, we generate remote entanglement between modules an arbitrary dist
 ance apart.
\n
\nIn the second approach\, we engineer a superconductin
g system of two giant artificial atoms coupled sequentially to a waveg
uide\, with tunable individual and correlated dissipation enabled by i
nterference between coupling points [3]. Continuously driving the atom
s through the waveguide exploits correlated dissipation to generate re
 mote entanglement.
\n
\nTogether\, these results illustrate two distin
ct roles for interference in quantum networking: routing the flow of q
uantum information and exploiting dissipation as a resource. They esta
blish waveguide QED as a basis for building modular superconducting qu
 antum networks with all-to-all connectivity.</p>
\n
\n[1] B. Kannan*\,
